cottonballtitleSo, the past couple of days have been spent organizing our small house. Because it is small, it is sooooo easily cluttered. Thankfully, the livingroom is quite orderly now and I was able to allow myself time for a new project and another way to use up some stuff laying around. I always hate doing crafty things when a room is already cluttered because I feel like it just makes everything worse (and hard to focus around) but anyways, here’s something fun I did tonight!

You will need:

  • cotton balls (I already had these. Used about 100, jumbo size, and a little over a buck at Walmart)
  • wire hanger easily bent (raided the closets – free!)
  • glue gun (love those! Purchased at Walmart and including spare glue, came to around $3)
  • anything you’d like to decorate your wreath with (I used some ornaments I got for free from a consignment shop as well as some broken pieces of an old christmas ornament…or something…I already had)

Step 1: Bend your hanger so that it forms a circle. Chances are, after adding everything to it, you’ll have to adjust the shape at the end, so don’t worry or freakishly obsess about it like I did if it isn’t perfect in the beginning.

Step 2: Glue on the cotton balls. I’ve seen some people do projects like this and all their cotton balls are perfectly aligned. I found that I liked mine to be random, some looking more fluffy and frayed than others, and did mine in groups of three.DSC_1279

Step 3: Add your knick-knacks! Make sure this part of the wreath has the cotton balls glued on strong enough to each other and the hanger to hold the weight of the decorations.

Step 4: Hang and stand back to admire your work. You just made something cute!

Happy crafting!
